VMworld2013 is about three weeks away and I am coordinating the EMC Office of the CTO (OCTO) activities this year. As part of the EMC vSpecialist team I was heavily involved in preparing demo’s and supporting the EMC show floor booth during the show in previous years. This years’ experience is much different for me. I am heavily involved in the overall planning for EMC.
This year the EMC Office of CTO is contributing heavily to EMC’s presence at VMworld. The EMC OCTO team has a number of storage, networking, and solution innovation industry experts. I wanted to create a number of opportunities for our customers to interact with our team. Since VMWorld is such an action pack event our team is heavily engaged in scheduled events.
James Ruddy and I will be participating in the fifth annual vOdgeball tournament on Sunday afternoon as part of the EMC vSpecialist alumni team (vExs). This is a great event allowing vendors, partners, and customers to throw dodge balls at each other with all proceeds benefiting the Wounded Warriors Project. Itt is a great opportunity to meet with industry friends. It does get competitive and is always entertaining. Spectators (hecklers?) are welcome are also welcome to attend. There are still a few openings for teams. Register at: ( http://tweetvite.com/event/v0dgeball2013).
On Monday the EMC OCTO team will be hosting a CTO roundtable to discuss new virtualization technology innovations. Due to demand and the NDA topics being discussed attendance will be invite only. If you would like to attend contact your EMC account executive or contact me.
On Tuesday, EMC Distinguished Engineer David Black will be a panelist on the always popular STO5559 - The Future of Storage: A Panel Discussion This will be a great opportunity to hear more about EMC-VMware storage innovations.
During VMworld this year our customers will be able to meet with a number of people from the EMC OCTO to discuss our view on software defined storage, networking futures, EMC open source strategy, and engagement with EMC Innovations lab. To schedule a meeting contact your EMC account executive or request a meeting through our new vPass systems here.
As part of the EMC show floor booth we will are building our Tech Preview content. We have some awesome stuff to share this year and I will have more details in future posts. The OCTO team is available to meet with you throughout the show at the EMC show floor booth.
This is the first year the EMC Office of the CTO will be so heavily involved in VMworld. I think our team will bring a unique perspective to the show. I’d love to hear feedback on ways we can better engage with our customers especially at VMworld. I hope to see you at VMworld this year!
